The 7 sections every congress website needs

Every congress is different, but after seeing dozens of event landing pages, there's a clear pattern: the ones that convert visitors into attendees best almost always have these seven pieces.

  1. Dates and venue, right at the top. It's the first thing anyone arriving looks for — don't hide it in the footer.
  2. Agenda or programme, even if provisional. An attendee decides to come (or to convince their boss to pay for the ticket) based on what they'll learn, not just on who's speaking.
  3. Speakers, with a photo and one line on why they matter. A name alone doesn't sell — context does.
  4. Sponsors, clearly visible. If you're looking for sponsorship for future editions, showcasing your current ones well is the best social proof you can offer.
  5. A clear path to buy a ticket, without visitors having to search for it. The simpler the click, the less drop-off.
  6. Frequently asked questions. Parking, accommodation, cancellation policy... every question you answer on the site is one less email you have to answer by hand.
  7. A real way to get in touch, not just a generic email buried in the footer.

None of these seven pieces is complicated on its own. The problem shows up when you try to fit them all into a template that wasn't built for a congress, but for a startup or a restaurant. That's where starting from a template already designed for this type of event saves more time than it seems.
